Three and Four Year-Old Preschool

Classes

Bountiful Preschool uses a whole child multi-sensory approach in our programs. Because all children learn differently, Bountiful uses research-based multi-sensory learning materials coupled with components from the Montessori and Waldorf philosophies.  Our preschool classes place a strong emphasis on natural learning thru season cycles, stories, music, songs, drama, science, and art/crafts. We incorporate the Love and Logic program and yoga into our Self-regulation curriculum.

Here is a closer look at February:

Monthly overview:  This month our themes will be “things we love” and farms.  We learn about each theme and how they relate to each one of the students.  Also, many of our math and literacy activities will be explored through our monthly themes.  We will use multi-sensory approaches for learning our numbers and letter names/sounds (ex writing in sand, creating with wood, writing on chalkboards, imprints in play dough, creating "sound boxes", books and songs related to letters/numbers).  We will work on our cutting skills and the letters in our names. Our classes will also focus on the letters D, W, E, and N, counting and number sense, the numbers 9-10, the color purple, and stars this month.  Our theme in science will be “Rocket Ships Blasting Off.”  Featured books this month include: Guess How Much I Love You, Curious George Discovers Outer Space, My Farm Friends, and The Purple Crayon.  Our dramatic play center will be a home setting for two weeks and then re-created into a flower shop complete with flowers, vases, money, wallets, purses, a payment stand with cash register, ordering forms, a parking lot, and vehicles for two weeks.  We will be keeping track of the moon's cycle, talking about seasons,  and enjoying story telling (the telling of stories without books).  To top it all off, we will be creating valentine messages to 'mail" to each other in our writing center, and having a party to celebrate Valentines Day.  We will have wonderful fun as we play to learn!
